Rome is one of the most beautiful cities in Italy and being able to photograph a urban elopement in Rome could only be a dream.

Undoubtedly wherever you want to do your elopement in Italy it would be incredible!

How long before their elopement in Rome do you think Erin and Mike contacted me?
They decided to contact me 10 months before their elopement in Italy, usually destination elopements are planned between 10 and 2 months in advance.

I can definitely say they didn’t have super clear ideas.

How to choose to have an Urban elopment in Rome:

Choosing the destination of your elopement is not always obvious and simple, certainly knowing whether you want to spend an adventurous day or perhaps a more luxurious and relaxed one helps. In the case of Erin and Mike, who started thinking about their elopement in Italy well in advance, the first choice was Tuscany. Both had already been to Italy and imagined an experience among the wonderful hills of Val D’Orcia between picnics and wine tasting.

While organizing and seeing some photos of other elopements that I had previously taken in Rome, they changed their minds and headed for Rome.
Rome as a destination for an elopement in Italy certainly has a lot to offer, also called the eternal city, it is certainly historically one of the most beautiful cities in the world, if not the most beautiful. Getting married in such a setting is truly a unique experience.

Getting ready for Rome elopement: Airbnb in Rome city center

It was all decided after about ten months of preparation everything was ready for their elopement in Rome with a modern and alternative flavour. The morning hours are certainly the most beautiful not only for the light but also for the tranquility of the centre. The day began with Erin getting ready before dawn and then being ready just before the sun came out.

One of the most beautiful and exciting things was the call between mom and Erin, mom was awake thousands of km away and with an 8 hour time difference. When in Rome it was 6 in the morning and in New Jersey it was around 10pm there was this super touching call. As soon as the mother saw her in her dress she burst into tears of joy and I have to tell you that I too was crying like a little girl.

In the meantime, on the terrace of the airbnb with a magnificent view there was Mike waiting for Erin for the first look. Everything was perfect, the blue light that comes just before dawn, the rooftops of Rome, the view of the dome… everything! As soon as Mike saw Erin arrive he was speechless, both wonderful and super excited. Undoubtedly he couldn’t have started this elopement in Rome better than this.

Do you want to know a secret? The forecast for April 20th was for rain but not spring drizzle but a real storm!!! Instead they were lucky and the eternal city gave them a splendid sunny day for their elopement.

A relaxing walk in the historic center of Rome at this time is magical! Believe me, if you’ve never done it, you have to try it, it’s a wonderful experience. Even though I do it for almost all the spouses who decide to elope in Rome, it leaves me amazed every time.
Walking among these brick and mustard colored buildings with the sun’s rays entering shyly and suddenly finding yourself in front of the Pantheon or the Arch of Augustus. This is truly a priceless experience.

During this morning walk between the Spanish Steps, the Trevi fountain, the monument to Vittorio Emanuele, the Roman forums, the Colosseum and much more there is always time to stop and have a typical Italian breakfast with cappuccino and croissants.

Elopement Ceremony in Rome

For the elopement ceremony Rome has a thousand scenarios to propose and they are all wonderful! At around 11 am the super intimate ceremony took place with the help of a professional ceremonialist who guided them and created a personalized ceremony for them.
What can’t be missing from an elopement ceremony? I always say your wedding your rules but the beauty and emotion of exchanging vows is something unique. Erin and Mike exchanged some amazing vows and it was a super emotional moment!

Eloping is an amazing experience: Pizza Cooking class in Rome

How to complete one of the most beautiful days of your life if not the most beautiful? Your day must reflect your personality and wishes so once I met Erin and Mike and after discovering their passion for cooking I couldn’t help but propose a cooking class!
So it was! Erin changed into her second outfit and we went to the experiential part of the cooking class to learn how to make pizza! The kids in the cooking class were super good and engaging, obviously the cooking class was held in English. The result was 5 pizzas, one better than the other!
