Tulum surprise proposal

It was October when James sent us an email to ask if we could photograph his surprise marriage proposal in Tulum. So it was less than 2 months to the day he was planning.

How to organize the Tulum surprise proposal

James and Taylor are from NYC and we are based in Europe, so you want to know how this can be organized?
When James contacted us in October we immediately organized a video call to understand what his initial idea was.
From the first moment he had clear ideas he wanted to surprise Taylor but in simplicity.
They would be staying in one of the hotels in the Tulum beach area and then everything would have to happen very naturally.
Tulum was not new. for us, we already knew Tulum from previous photo shoots but for safety we always do site inspections a few days before. First of all we decide t arrive in Tulum on the 14th of December to be able to organize everything and on the 15th we had the last video call with James, when everything was ready.
James sent us a photos of them together for us to recognize even though we had never seen them live before.

After all the planning, everything was ready on a Friday in December. The previous day Jamie and Taylor had landed and we had made arrangements for them between 4:45 pm and 5 pm and something they would take a walk on the beach heading south. We were already an hour in advance where it was decided ready to test our skills as actors.

You should know that we had agreed with James that when we saw them we would pretend to be photographers of a new hotel that was there to create new content.

Having said that, although we are not actors we were very ready we saw them arrive from afar and the plan started.
First we approached pretending not to know them asking if they spoke Spanish or English and then we asked them if they wanted to take some pictures and then we would send them by email for free.

Initially they didn’t seem very convinced, we have to say that James deserves the Oscar as a leading actor because he did the strange and a little scared part very well.

The proposal 

When we convinced them we started taking some classic photos and then after just a few minutes the best moment of the whole day arrived.
We had Taylor turn his back and James at that moment knelt down. You can imagine the rest but we will tell you!

We were all excited of course Taylor was incredulous between tears of joy and huge smiles! Undoubtedly this is the portrait of happiness! All done in secret and she didn’t expect anything!
Really gorgeous.

The following day the surprises were not over, in the early afternoon we took the couple to a private cenote about 20 minutes from Tulum.
We couldn’t not let him live this experience of diving into a not too crowded cenote and having fun like crazy.
