The Romantic Sassi of Matera

The beautiful Lucanian capital has been named World City of Culture 2019. It is a unique location in the world, splendid and romantic. During the day it sees a city with all the tuff houses with its typical light colors. Later in the evening its warm lights come to life. I had an immense desire to visit it and thanks to the journey I made to document the marriage of Joke and Guillaume, I made a stop in Matera too.

From afar there is a viewpoint from where you can admire the city from afar and I must say that it is breathtaking. When we were there it was September 2019 and right in those days, among other things, they also shot the latest James Bond film – No Time to Die. We saw mounted sets and scenes let’s say there was a bit of a commotion, it doesn’t hurt but maybe I would have enjoyed it more without

I, in my small way, was lucky enough to meet and photograph Valentina and Mattia in such a magical context. A couple of engaged couples, close to marriage, thanks to whom I met this wonderful city. Accompanying them through the narrow streets of Matera, walking along silent stairways and looking out from an enchanting belvedere and getting lost was not only amazing for the photos but very fun. It was still very hot despite it being late September and we were pleasantly lost or perhaps deliberately lost in the streets.

You will see in the photos the complicity and spontaneity of Valentina and Mattia, they were wonderful.

Do you believe in love at first sight? Because for them it was love at first sight in 2017 and they never broke up from them. They are from two different countries in Basilicata, she is from Grassano and he is from Calciano. For this reason they joined together in the same gym to see each other more easily.
