Guide to elope in Italy

ITALY ELOPEMENT GUIDE

If you’re planning to elope in Italy you will need your passport, birth certificate, an Nulla Osta, two witnesses and then you’ll also need to submit a declaration of intent to marry.  how and where to elope in Italy

Italy recognizes both religious and civil wedding ceremonies. For non-catholic religious weddings, a civil ceremony needs to be incorporated in order to make the marriage legal. If you’re interested in legally getting married in Italy, then you can find more information by contacting your embassy

In the case you you’re feeling overwhelmed with the steps, then you can always get married in your home country and have a symbolic ceremony in Italy. We love this idea because you both can still exchange vows and have an intimate ceremony, while not having to worry about the legality of things somewhere foreign to you.

I can add that if you wanna do a civil wedding and not simbolic you can not do that every location you have in your mind but it has to be a ‘casa comunale’.

Some Venue are ‘casa comunale’ but mostly public lands are not casa comunale so in that case you only have a simbolic ceremony.

ITALIAN SEASONS: When to elope in Italy?

ITALY ELOPEMENT

If you have never been to Italy you should know that we are in a Mediterranean climate. Our peninsula has 4 seasons and we will tell you the pros and cons of deciding to get married in every season.
Even if subjectively there are no seasons better than others as there are couples who love the heat and spouses who dream of snow we can tell you that indicatively in the climate that you find in Italy in the first room, at the beginning and at the end of summer and at the early autumn is the mildest.
As Italy extends from north to south there are several differences between one area and another, for example at the end of October in Puglia and Sicily there are still very hot days normally in the north this does not happen.

In case you are not a snow lover and even less a crowd of people, the best months to get married in Italy are March, April, May and September and October.

SPRING & FALL
The best months of all are April, May, late September and October. These are months in which the climate is mild and it tends to be not rainy. In spring you can find super flowery and wonderfully colored areas while in autumn to October the colors of the foliage will leave you speechless. In addition, in these months you will also find the most touristy areas that are not too crowded. March and November in southern Italy it is very easy to experience beautiful sunny days while in the north it will certainly be colder.

Rome Elopement

winter dolomites elopement-00004
